Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting faced a backlash from twitter when he selected Nathan Lyon in his test team of the decade but omitted Ravi Ashwin out of it.
Ravi Ashwin Out, Lyon In
Legendary Australian batsman joined the fun in picking the teams of the decade by picking his team test team of the decade. But a soon as he tweeted his team fans called out ‘Punter’ on being biased towards fellow Australian cricketers and English cricketers in particular. Fans seem quite discontent with the fact only one Indian player was selected in the team despite the Indian team being the most successful test team in the past decade. One selection specifically surprised fans was of Nathan Lyon over Ravi Ashwin. Ricky Ponting selected Nathan Lyon as the sole spinner of his team. Fans reminded Ricky Ponting of Ravi Ashwin’s number in this decade as the Indian spinner is the highest-wicket getter of the decade.
Everyone's picking teams of the decade so I thought I'd join in the fun. This would be my Test team of the 2010's:
David Warner
Alastair Cook
Kane Williamson
Steve Smith
Virat Kohli (c)
Kumar Sangakkarra (wk)
Ben Stokes
Dale Steyn
Nathan Lyon
Stuart Broad
James Anderson— Ricky Ponting AO (@RickyPonting) December 30, 2019
Virat Kohli is the captain of Ponting’s team
Ricky Ponting chose David Warner and Alastair Cook as the openers of the decade followed by New Zealand’s captain Kane Williamson and Steve Smith. He selected Virat Kohli as the captain of the team and Kumar Sangakkara is the sole wicket-keeper of his team. Ben Stokes is the all-rounder of the team and Nathan Lyon has been given the task to take care of the spin-bowling department. The Australian legend picked up the trio of Dale Steyn, James Anderson, and Stuart Broad as the pacers in his team.

Twitterati not amused
Fans didn’t agree with Ricky Ponting on many selections and they began criticizing the Aussie. Here is how Twitterati reacted:
I really wanted to disagree that Broad and Anderson can't both be on the list. But 1000+ test wickets between them, and having pretty much been the openers for England for the entire decade, I concede the point.
Best/most accurate list I have seen so far.

Disagree. Broad and Anderson won't perform in Subcontinent…Also, Ashwin is wayyyy better than Lyon! https://t.co/EDEFAOORRt

Punter. All looks fine but Ashwin won 10 times more test matches in India than Lyon in Australia. Also the overseas credentials are mostly equal. So that went over the top mate.
