Kuldeep Yadav has emerged as one the finest wrist spinners India has ever produced. After having an impressive outing in the T20Is and ODIs against England, Kuldeep Yadav now eagerly waits for the Test series to prove his mettle in the longest format of the game.
The Uttar Pradesh chinaman bowler has shown his potential in the two Tests he has played in his career so far as he has 9 scalps to his name at an average of 20.77.
What makes him more special is the fact that Kuldeep Yadav is India’s first left-arm chinaman bowler.
The world cricket doesn’t often Chinaman bowlers as they are a rarity in India and world cricket.
How is Kuldeep Yadav different from other wrist spinners:
Kuldeep is slower through the air, he gives more flight and pitches most of his deliveries on the fuller length whereas most of the modern-day wrist spinners bowl a flatter trajectory at greater speeds.
In an era when wrist spinners are bowling faster and shorter – led by Rashid Khan & Shadab Khan – Kuldeep Yadav is a throwback to old-school wrist spinners who bowl slowly, toss the ball up & bowl full. He's an attacking bowler & is a joy to watch. #EngvInd pic.twitter.com/cDE0MSK6bm

Moreover, Yadav’s ability to turn the ball big both ways is a lethal weapon which usually deceives the batsmen.
What adds to his precise technique is his self-confidence.
“The wickets usually do not matter to me. Whenever there is no assistance from the pitch, I try to bowl with more patience and I keep trying to turn the ball,” he says.

He then landed in England to prove his mettle against the no. 1 ODI team.
In the first ODI, England succumbed to Yadav’s spell of wrist spin as he returned figures of 6/25 in his 10 overs.
In the first T20 at Manchester Yadav had returned with a five-wicket haul.
England captain, Eoin Morgan praised the chinaman bowler and said, “Kuldeep dismissed three of our batsmen in four balls and deceived us.”
“He completely deceived us,” he added.
It remains to be seen if Kuldeep Yadav gets included in the first Test against England or not but with so many weapons in his arsenal, Yadav will definitely be worth watching out for.
