Trent Boult to miss England Test series: After the shocking suspension of the Indian Premier League (IPL), all the franchises alongwith the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) are now trying their level best to ensure that all the players are able to return to their respective homes safely. Most of the Indian as well as foreign players have already reached their homes safely through secure passages. England are scheduled to host New Zealand for a two-match Test series starting with the 1st Test match from June 2.
Trent Boult likely to miss England Test series
The visiting New Zealand team have suffered a major blow as their premier pacer Trent Boult will miss the upcoming two Test matches against England. Boult who was playing for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2021 will now return to his home and undergo mandatory quarantine before joining his family for some quality time. The Kiwi left-arm pacer has requested his board that he wants to be with his family for now but he will be very much available for the all-important ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final against India scheduled to start from June 18 in Southampton.
Apart from Boult, New Zealand trainer Chris Donaldson who was with the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL will also not be travelling with the national team for the two-match Test series against England and instead take a break in order to be with his family.

“We’re completely supportive of Chris and Trent taking the opportunity to see their families before heading to the UK. They’ve always been the consummate professionals and we’re more than happy to accommodate these arrangements,” David White, the NZC chief executive, was quoted by ESPNcricinfo as saying.
“We’ve worked closely with the BCCI and the IPL franchises on the various departure strategies and we’re very appreciative of their support during what is, clearly, a very challenging time. Were also very grateful to the England and Wales Cricket Board for accommodating the early arrival of the four members of the Test squad currently in India,” White added.

Boult and Donaldson to return from IPL to New Zealand on Friday
The duo of Trent Boult and Chris Donaldson are scheduled to take a charter flight from Delhi on Friday along with the other New Zealand based players, commentators, umpires, support staff and officials. Boult will then train at Mount Maunganui before leaving for England for the WTC final. He is an important member of the New Zealand Test squad and his sensational abilities to swing the new ball will be pivotal for his team in the English conditions against India in the final.
