SL vs IND Live, 2nd T20I: 4 Players Make Their India Debut

SL vs IND Live: Team India are currently taking on Sri Lanka in the second T20I match in Colombo. The second T20I had to be rescheduled for today after India all-rounder Krunal Pandya tested positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday. The Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian team are currently leading the three-match T20I series by a 1-0 margin due to their impressive 38-run win in the first match.

In a massive recent development, the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devdutt Padikkal, Nitish Rana and Chetan Sakariya will be making their India T20I debut against Sri Lanka in the second T20I match. Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka has won the toss and opted to field first.

“We would have batted first, so I’m happy with it. There are four debutants. Lots of changes due to obvious reasons. We’re all looking forward to this. We’re street-fighters and ready to face the challenges. Our main players aren’t here, but that gives the chance to the younger players. They have created great energy for the last 45 days, and I’m glad they have got their chances. These things can happen in the current scenario, that’s why we brought a large squad,” said India captain Shikhar Dhawan during the toss.

On the other hand, the host Sri Lankan team have also made two changes to their playing XI from the previous game. The duo of Ramesh Mendis and Sadeera Samarawickrama have come in for Charith Asalanka and Ashen Bandara in this second T20I against India.

After the likes of Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Chahar, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Prithvi Shaw, Ishan Kishan, Krishnappa Gowtham and Manish Pandey got ruled out for the remainder of the Lanka tour, the BCCI have added Sandeep Warrier, Ishan Porel, Sai Kishore, Simarjeet Singh and Arshdeep Singh, who were the net bowlers, as regular members in the India squad.
