IND vs SL: India’s Possible Playing 11 for 2nd T20I after Krunal Pandya’s Close Contacts are Unavailable

IND vs SL: Team India witnessed a massive blow after Krunal Pandya tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the second T20I against Sri Lanka. The tour’s itinerary had to be changed and now the second and third T20I games will be held on 28 and 29 July respectively. It is also understood that eight other Indian players who have been identified as close contacts of Krunal, will not be available for the remaining matches of the Lanka tour even after returning a negative test.
India’s Possible Playing 11 for 2nd T20I
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to officially reveal the names of the 8 players who came in direct contact of Krunal Pandya, however, as per the media reports, Ishan Kishan, Manish Pandey, Prithvi Shaw, Suryakumar Yadav, Krishnappa Gowtham, Deepak Chahar and Hardik Pandya will be unavailable. It has now become a really tough task for the Indian team management to pick a playing 11 for the upcoming second T20I against Sri Lanka.

If the above mentioned names are not available, then India are left with just five specialist batsmen, Shikhar Dhawan, Devdutt Padikkal, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson and Nitish Rana. However, there is still a big question mark over captain Shikhar’s availability as he is reported to be under isolation. Team India went in with a 20-member squad and five net bowlers in this Lanka tour.

It has been learned that Krunal is already under mandatory isolation for seven days starting from yesterday (27 July). He has been moved to different hotel which is an intermediate care hotel Mount Lavinia according to Sri Lanka Cricket officials. However, there is still a big suspense whether the rest of the Sri Lanka vs India T20I series will go on as per schedule or not as the Indian team has a lot of casualties.
