Team India Gets INR 58 Crore

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has this morning announced a cash prize of INR 58 crore for Team India following their win in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 less than two weeks ago. This reward acknowledges the contributions of players, coaching staff, support personnel, and the Men’s Selection Committee.

Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, India delivered a dominant performance throughout the tournament. They began with a six-wicket win over Bangladesh, followed by another six-wicket victory against Pakistan. A 44-run triumph over New Zealand secured their semi-final spot, where they defeated Australia by four wickets to reach the final.

BCCI President Roger Binny expressed his pride in the team’s achievement, stating, “Winning back-to-back ICC titles is special, and this reward recognizes Team India’s dedication and excellence on the global stage. The cash award is a recognition of the hard work that everyone puts in behind the scenes.” He also pointed out that this was India’s second ICC Trophy in 2025, following the ICC U19 Women’s World Cup win, which highlights the country’s strong cricketing ecosystem.

BCCI Honorary Secretary Devajit Saikia emphasized the significance of this victory, saying, “The BCCI is proud to honour the players and support staff with this well-deserved reward. Their dominance in world cricket is a result of years of hard work and strategic execution. This victory has justified India’s top ranking in white-ball cricket, and we are sure the team will continue to excel in the years to come.”

Vice-President Rajeev Shukla commended the team’s mental toughness and ability to handle pressure, stating, “This cash reward is a tribute to the outstanding performances delivered by the team throughout the tournament. The players exhibited remarkable composure under pressure, and their success is an inspiration to aspiring cricketers across the country.”

Treasurer Prabhtej Bhatia reiterated BCCI’s commitment to developing Indian cricket, noting, “The BCCI takes immense pride in acknowledging the hard work and dedication of our players and support staff, and this cash prize reflects our commitment to encouraging excellence in Indian cricket. We remain committed to providing the best resources and infrastructure to help Indian cricket continue its dominance on the global stage.”

Honorary Joint Secretary Rohan Gauns Dessai highlighted the excitement of the final against New Zealand and the joy it brought to fans. He remarked, “Team India looked solid throughout the tournament and the final against New Zealand was a spectacular game. It brought a lot of joy and cheer to the nation and Team India fans across the globe. This success is a reflection of the robust cricketing system in place, and we will continue to strengthen it to maintain our supremacy in world cricket.”

*** In an update to the story, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced prize money distribution for the Indian squad and staff after their Champions Trophy 2025 victory. Each of the 15 squad members will receive Rs 3 crore, including Arshdeep Singh, Rishabh Pant, and Washington Sundar, who did not feature in any match during the tournament.

Head coach Gautam Gambhir is set to receive Rs 3 crore as well. The rest of the coaching staff, including batting coach Sitanshu Kotak, assistant coaches Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate, fielding coach T Dilip, physiotherapists Kamlesh Jain and Yogesh Parmar, and team doctor Aditya Daftary, will each receive Rs 50 lakhs. Throwdown specialists Raghavindraa Dvgi, Nuwan Udeneke, and Dayanand Garani, along with masseurs Chetan Kumar, Rajeev Kumar, and Arun Kanade, will also be rewarded. Strength and conditioning coach Soham Desai is part of the list receiving the same amount.

BCCI has also allocated Rs 25 lakhs each for officials such as the media manager and liaison officer. Meanwhile, chief selector Ajit Agarkar will receive Rs 30 lakhs, while selection committee members Subroto Banerjee, Ajay Ratra, S Sharath, and Shiv Sunder Das will each get Rs 25 lakhs.

According to BCCI treasurer Saikia, the International Cricket Council (ICC) awarded Rs 19.45 crore in prize money for India’s Champions Trophy win. This amount has been equally distributed among the 15 players, with each receiving Rs 1,43,58,000 crore from the ICC’s payout.
