It’s the wrap of the Indian men’s cricket team’s practice schedule against Western Australia XI as the side has lost the second practice match against the hosts. The Indian side played two warm-up games at the Western Australia Cricket Association (WACA) Stadium in Perth, ahead of the T20 World Cup.
The visitors won the first game earlier, on October 10, at the same venue. India’s Suryakumar Yadav hit a half-century in the match, while India’s latest discovery and the left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh picked up three wickets. India managed to attain the victory by 13 runs then.

Furthermore, today (October 13), India, led by KL Rahul, decided to bowl first. Singh struck in the power play once again, picking up a vital wicket of Josh Philippe. After the end of eight overs, India surprisingly had tried eight different bowlers.
For Western Australia, Nick Hobson and D’Arcy Short smashed the fifties. However, Harshal Patel broke the 100-run stand by dismissing Hobson for 64 runs in 41 deliveries. Hobson smashed five fours and four sixes during his time in the crease. Patel picked up two wickets overall. Short, then, was run out after scoring 52 runs in 38 deliveries with four fours and two sixes. Although, Ravichandran Ashwin in the end, struck thrice with the ball. India restricted Western Australia XI to a decent total of 168 runs for eight wickets.
In reply, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant opened the Indian innings, while Rohit Sharma didn’t bat at all. Rahul played a vital knock of 74 runs in 55 deliveries with nine fours and a couple of sixes in his account. However, none of the Indian batters could sustain for long then. Apart from Rahul, Hardik Pandya scored 17 runs in nine balls.
For Western Australia XI, Matthew Kelly, Lance Morris, and Hamish McKenzie captured two wickets each. India couldn’t get off the mark and be defeated by Western Australia XI by 39 runs.

India to play two warm-up games ahead of the World Cup
Besides, India are set to play a couple of warm-up games against Australia and New Zealand. India will play against the current T20I champions on October 17 (Monday) in Brisbane. While, the New Zealand clash is scheduled on October 19, at the same venue.
Further, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian men will kickstart the T20 World Cup campaign on October 23, with a blockbuster derby against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
Besides, India are placed in Group 2, along with Bangladesh, Pakistan, and South Africa. After a couple of disappointing runs in the last T20 WC as well as the men’s Asia Cup 2022, the side will be aiming for the global crown. The tournament will commence on October 16.
