The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the Bangladesh squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Shakib Al Hasan is set to lead the side in another international event after a poor run in the recently concluded Asia Cup 2022, where the team couldn’t make it to the Super 4 stage.
The same squad will represent Bangladesh in a tri-series in October between New Zealand – the hosts, and Pakistan, just before the World Cup.
Litton Das is back in the squad after a few injury concerns. While the 15-member squad will go on without Mushfiqur Rahim since he has announced his retirement from the format. Moreover, Yasir Ali, Nurul Hasan, Hasan Mahmud, and Najmul Hossain Shanto are all back on the team.
On the other hand, Parvez Hossain Emon, Anamul Haque, Mehedi Hasan, and Mohammad Naim are the ones to be left out after the dissatisfying Asia Cup 2022 campaign. Moreover, there were several speculations over the Bangladeshi veteran Mahmudullah’s inclusion in the squad, but, deeming a rough run with the bat, he has been dropped from the squad. He was also Bangladesh’s skipper from November 2019 to July this year, but the 36-year-old was removed from the position due to the BCB’s intentions of bringing back Shakib al Hasan in the chair.
