India are hanging by a thin thread in this WT20 after having lost their first two games to Pakistan and New Zealand. They are in a pathetic situation at the moment and they only have themselves to blame for this position. India have made semi finals or final in each of the ICC tournament since 2013 and there is every chance that they might get back home after group stage for the first time in an ICC event since 8 years.
India failed to make the semi final in the 2012 WT20 and since then they have been the most consistent side in ICC events. They once again entered this WT20 2021 as favorites after thrashing the white ball powerhouse England and Australia in the warm-up games. But things haven’t gone their way in the first 2 games including toss which has been the deciding factor in the round 2 games so far.
Aakash Chopra drops Varun Chakravarthy from his team
Varun Chakravarthy is a defensive bowler and that’s how he earned his reputation in the last 2 seasons of IPL. He bowls back of a length that is not a wicket taking length in general but also reduces the scoring opportunities for the batters.

India have made poor totals batting first in this tournament so far and bowlers had very little to play with so dropping Varun Chakravarthy makes no sense but that’s what Aakash Chopra prefers for today’s game against Afghanistan.
This is what he had to say about his changes for today.
I’ll make 2 changes to the playing XI today if SKY is fit & available. If not, one change in the XI & one tactical. Rahul Chahar in place of Varun C (Chakravarthy), SKY in place of Ishan…if SKY is unavailable, Ishan to bat in the middle order,”
