Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Winner List – The domestic cricket in India is arguably the best among other cricketing nations. The tournaments like Ranji Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and many more has been one of the main reasons for the evolution of Indian cricket. Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was introduced after the first season of IPL.
As many as 38 teams take part in the tournaments and it’s fair to say it has provided a platform for players from the states, where cricketing culture is less, to stake their claim in IPL and the India team.

So far 13 seasons of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy has taken place and it has seen a total of 9 winners. Only Baroda, Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have managed to win the title twice.

The inaugural edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2009 was won by Maharashtra. They created history by thumping Hyderabad by 19 runs. In 2010/11 the tournament was won by Bengal. It was a nail-bitter as the Bengal defeated Madhya Pradesh by just 1 run to cinch the trophy.
Baroda emerged victorious in 2011/12 after they defeated Punjab by 8 runs. Punjab Team once again managed to reach the finals in 2012/13 but they felt one step short as this time they were pounded by Gujarat by 6 wickets. Baroda crated history in 2013/14 when they for the second time won Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy after they defeated Uttar Pradesh by 3 wickets.
Gujrat and Punjab once again met in the final of tournament in 2014/15. There was no shortage of entertainment as the match went down the wire and saw Gujarat clinching their second title. The next edition of the trophy in 2015/16 was won by Uttar Pranesh after they defeated two-time champions Bangladesh by 38 runs.

East Zone then won their maiden Syed Mushtaq Trophy in 2016/17 by beating Central Zone. Delhi then registered their name in the records book after they crushed Rajasthan by 41 runs.
Karnataka then created history after they became the first team to win two consecutive titles. They first defeated Maharashtra by 8 wickets in 2017/18 and then won the nail-bitter in 2018/19 after they tasted the win by 1 run against Tamil Nadu to win their second Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Tamil Nadu achieved the same feat in the next two editions of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. They defeated Baroda in 2019/20 by 7 wickets and followed it with a 4-wicket win against Karnataka in 2021/22.
