Pakistan completed a comprehensive victory in the first test and have boosted their WTC chances by a great deal. They have found a new star in Abdullah Shafique who played a scintillating knock in the final innings of the first test. But. Pakistan would not be pleased going into the 2nd test as their star bowler has been ruled out of the game.
SL vs PAK’ Shaheen Afridi to miss the 2nd test
Shaheen Afridi is one of the best fast bowlers in world cricket at the moment. It is also fair to say that he is the best new ball bowler going around. His ability to swing the ball both the ways at a high pace makes batsmen’s life miserable. The lanky fast bowler didn’t have much of a role in the 2nd innings of the first test but he ended up as the highest wicket taker for Pakistan in the first innings.
The most worrying factor for Pakistan is that Shaheen Afridi won’t be available for the selection in the 2nd test as he is ruled out due to a knee injury.
Shaheen Afridi is the #4 ranked bowler in test cricket. He has risen through the ranks so rapidly in the last couple of years, post pandemic, in particular. He averages just 25 in Asian conditions where there is minimal help for faster bowlers. These numbers are world class and any team would miss a bowler of such calibre and class.
Indian Cricket Team Jersey Numbers
Sri Lanka would be without Maheesh Theekshana but Pakistan will be missing their best fast bowler whereas Sri Lanka will be without a spinner who hasn’t looked test ready yet. It will be an important test for both the sides as the fate of their World test championship lies with this game.
