This series should give opportunities to lot of youngsters who have worked hard to earn their place in the absence of star players. The stand-in coach Rahul Dravid also said that he will ensure that all the players will get an opportunity to play in this series.
VVS Laxman picks Pandya brothers
The veteran batsman VVS Laxman was asked to pick his playing XI for the first ODI against Sri Lanka. He picked Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya as the 2 all rounders in the side. He also had Manish Pandey in the crucial #5 position with Sanju Samson handling the wicket-keeping duties.

VVS Laxman also wants the forgotten combination Kulcha together in this series. Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal were one of the most terrorizing spin bowling pairs in the last 5 years or so. They faded away and India moved away from playing both of them together in the playing XI.
With the wickets in Sri Lanka expected to assist spin, Rahul Dravid might consider playing this duo again together after a long time.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Deepak Chahar will lead the pace attack in Laxman’s XI. Neither bowlers are not express in pace and India might need someone like Navdeep Saini but the recent form of Navdeep Saini goes against him.
