Devdutt Padikkal: After a brilliant start to their IPL 2021 campaign with a 2-wicket win over defending champions Mumbai Indians in the season opener, the Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are ready to cross swords with the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their opening game against Kolkata Knight Riders by 10 runs on the same venue. After completely recovering from coronavirus, Devdutt Padikkal is all set return to RCB’s playing XI for this crucial game.
Who has Devdutt Padikkal replaced in RCB Playing 11?
Just two weeks before the start of IPL 2021, RCB suffered a major blow as their premier opener Devdutt Padikkal tested positive for Covid-19 after which he underwent home quarantine in Bengaluru. Padikkal joined the RCB bio-bubble after testing negative for the deadly coronavirus and undergoing all the necessary BCCI protocols. After missing the first game against MI, the left-hander is back in RCB’s playing XI in place of Rajat Patidar and he will be opening the batting with skipper Virat Kohli against SRH.

In his debut IPL season last year, Padikkal ended as the leading run-getter for RCB with a fabulous tally of 473 runs in 15 matches. The Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner has won the toss and opted to bowl first on this turning Chennai wicket.

At the toss, Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper Virat Kohli also made a surprising statement that Shahbaz Ahmed will be batting at No.3 position in this game. On the other hand, the Sunrisers Hyderabad have made two vital changes in their side. Jason Holder has come in for Mohammad Nabi while Sandeep Sharma has been dropped for Shahbaz Nadeem. It will be really important for both these teams to do well in this starting phase of IPL 2021.
