The Sunrisers Hyderabad got eliminated from the race to IPL 2023 playoffs after their disappointing 34-run loss at the hands of Gujarat Titans during their previous match.

During the toss, the Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper Aiden Markram mentioned that Umran Malik is not included in the SRH playing 11 for this SRH vs RCB match on Thursday. Interestingly, he is once again not even part of the five substitute members out of which one can be used as an Impact Player at any moment in the game. After an impactful IPL 2022 season for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Umran has failed to live up to the expectations this year having taken only 5 wickets from as many as 7 matches in IPL 2023 at a really expensive economy rate of over 10. The SRH team management have  surprisingly not backed their tearaway fast bowler during his poor form as he has been dropped from the side during the last few matches.

“We would have looked to bat. Not too disappointed. Couple of changes. Brook comes in. Tyagi comes in as well. Umran is an x-factor player. Lot of pride to play for. We haven’t lived up to the ability. We should try to showcase that at the world stage in the last two games,” said Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram during the toss.
