The important news update coming from the Mumbai Indians (MI) camp is that they are not playing their overseas fast bowler Riley Meredith in their fifth game of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) season against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The Mumbai Indians will surely be feeling very much high on momentum as they are coming into this match on the back of two amazing consecutive wins over Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals. The Rohit Sharma-led MI team have managed to win 2 out of their 4 games in IPL 2023.

SRH vs MI: Why is Riley Meredith Not Playing Today’s Match IPL?

During the toss, it was revealed that Australia’s right-arm speedster Riley Meredith is not part of the MI playing XI in this SRH vs MI IPL match. However, this only seems to be a strategical change as the Aussie pacer is part of the five substitute members out of which one can be used as an Impact Player at any moment in the game. Incidentally, Meredith ended up with figures of 1 for 40 from his quota of four overs in the last match for the Mumbai Indians against Kolkata Knight Riders. But he bowled well during the death in that game and thus, he might come in the side as an Impact Player in the second innings of this match against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

“It’s been fantastic, 15 years IPL has come off a long way. Has gone from strength to strength, it has not only produced good players for India but globally as well . Lots of good things have happened in 15 years. We have to play good cricket. We do understand the challenges of posting a total. We’ve to assess the conditions. Duan misses out and Jason Behrendorff comes in place of him. Jason was always supposed to play, but he was not well for the last game. He’s okay to go now.
