It seems that nothing is going right for KKR in IPL 2019 after their sensational start. The franchise was brutally knocked out by David Warner and Jonny Bairstow’s 131 run opening partnership after Khaleel Ahmed grabbed three for 33 to blow apart KKR’s batting line-up.
KKR’s below par effort with the bat
The start however for KKR was pristine as Sunil Narine hammered 25 off just 8 balls. Ahmed castled Narine in the 3rd over but KKR had raced to 42 by that time.
In the next over Ahmed sent back Shubman Gill while Nitish Rana was sent back in the 8th over by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Dinesh Karthik’s run-out in the 9th over made matters worse for KKR as they slipped to 73 for four wickets down.

Rinku Singh (30 off 25 balls) then stepped up to the occasion and scored 51 runs with Lynn (51 off 47 runs) who scored another fifty but this time with an uncharacteristic slow approach. But both batsmen departed in successive overs trying to gain momentum.
KKR’s hopes of putting up a winning total were on Russell but he too had an off day as he scored just 15 off nine balls and was dismissed by Bhuvi. In the end KKR just managed 159 runs in their 20 overs.

Bairstow-Warner crush Kolkata
In reply, Warner and Bairstow made a mockery of KKR’s total as they hammered 131 runs in just 74 balls for the first wicket. Warner scored 67 runs off 38 balls and was finally dismissed by Prithvi Raj in the 13th over.
But by then the damage was already been done and Bairstow cantered Chawla for two consecutive sixes in the 15th over to deliver SRH a thumping win against KKR.

With this win, SRH have five wins in nine games and this big win has also boosted their net run-rate. On the other hand, KKR now has six defeats in 10 games and from here on they would need to win every game to stay in the hunt for the play-offs.
