Finally the real SRH arrived. Strangling the opponents with a solid and versatile bowling attack and then knocking out the runs courtesy of their high quality top-order batsmen is what Hyderabad were supposed to do in IPL season 12 and they did exactly the same and in the process showed that a dominant team like CSK can be mauled too.
Watson, du Plessis give CSK promising start
CSK though started things on a bright note. After winning the toss they elected to bat and their openers showed plenty of promise.
The duo of Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis scored 79 runs for their first wicket in 59 balls but Watson was dismissed by Shahbaz Nadeem for 31 runs off 29 balls and two balls later Vijay Shankar sent back du Plessis for 45 off 31 balls.
Hyderabad strangle Chennai in second half of the innings
And then the slow bowlers of Hyderabad denied Chennai any flourish in the middle overs. Rashid Khan was once again brilliant as he gave away just 17 runs in his four overs and claimed two wickets including the big wicket of Suresh Raina.

Warner’s punch knocks CSK out
In response, David Warner started the innings in the fourth gear and slammed a 25 ball 50 run innings to kick CSK out of the contest. Warner scored 66 runs for the first wicket with Jonny Bairstow inside the six overs and brought the required rate to below six.

CSK tried to make a comeback after Warner’s demise but it was too late and too little. Imran Tahir removed Williamson and Shankar cheaply and Karn Sharma dismissed Deepak Hooda but Bairstow (61 runs off 44 balls) kept the other end secured and steered SRH home in the 17th over.
