South Africa vs India: Indian Players Ratings after 3-0 loss to SA in ODI series

It was a disappointing whitewash in the ODI series against South Africa for theĀ Indian team. The team could only be competitive in the 3rd ODI of the series, but the batting order failing to perform well yet again in pressure.

Shikhar Dhawan- 9
The experienced campaigner turned out to be the most consistent run scorer at the top order for the touring party. He scored 169 runs, with the best score of 79.
KL Rahul- 6
The captain of the Indian team in this series was average with his performances with the bat, and could not taste success with his leadership role as well. He accumulated 76 runs in 3 matches.
Virat Kohli- 8
The former Indian captain tried well to help the team in the 1st ODI and 3rd ODI by hitting half centuries. But, his dismissals in all the 3 matches showed recklessness and would be looking to convert it into big knocks. In the series, Virat scored 116 runs.

Rishabh Pant-7
Apart from scoring 85 runs in the 2nd ODI, Rishabh Pant could not trouble the scores in the other 2 matches, and gave his wicket too easily. In the ODI series, he managed to score a total of 101 runs.
Shreyas Iyer-6
It was a forgetful series for the Mumbai lad and former Delhi Capitals captain, Shreyas Iyer. He could not make the full use of the opportunity, and could only contribute 54 runs in 3 matches.
Suryakumar Yadav- 7
Featuring in the Final ODI of the series, Surya was impressive with his shot selections and confidence. He scored 39 runs and looked in good touch, despite his first appearance.

Venkatesh Iyer-6
A relatively newer candidate in the international cricket, Venkatesh Iyer could score only 24 runs and gave 28 runs in his 5 overs in 2 matches. He would look to take the learning and do well in the upcoming tournaments.
Shardul Thakur- 8
Often hailed as “Lord Shardul”, Thakur was impressive with his performances with the bat in the first 2 ODIs. He scored 90 runs and remained unbeaten both of the times. With the ball, he took a single wicket.
Deepak Chahar- 8
Deepak got an opportunity in the 3rd ODI of the series, and proved his mettle by taking 2 wickets and scoring crucial 54 runs, which helped Indian team to get close to the target.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar- 5
The experienced bowler is suffering from injury issues lately, and has been out of form for most of the past 2 years. In this series, he could not bowl at his original pace, and went wicket-less.
Jayant Yadav- 6
Often been given an opportunity in test cricket, Jayant was floated in as a replacement for Washington Sundar. But, the spinner could not take a wicket, or provide contribution with the bat in the 3rd ODI.

Ravichandran Ashwin- 6
The spinner could not replicate his past performance in the whole tour of South Africa. In the ODI series, he could take only 1 wicket and was dropped from the 11 of final fixture as well.
Jasprit Bumrah- 9
The leading wicket taker for the Indian team in the ODI series was impressive with his performances with the old and new ball. In 3 matches, he scalped 5 wickets with an economy of 4.56.
Yuzvendra Chahal- 7
The leg spinner did not prove to be a danger for the home team in the conditions favouring the pace bowlers. Chahal could pick up only 2 wickets in 3 matches, with an economy of 5.06.
Prasidh Krishna- 8
Prasidh featured in the final ODI of the series and scalped 3 wickets with an economy of 6, which contained the opposition team under the score of 300.
