South Africa Cricket Team has unveiled its playing XI for the first Test against the West Indies, scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 7, at Port of Spain, Trinidad. Temba Bavuma will captain the Proteas in this crucial match.

Tony De Zorzi and Aiden Markram will open the batting, with Tristan Stubbs set to make his Test debut at the crucial number three position. Captain Temba Bavuma will follow in the lineup, bringing stability to the middle order. David Bedingham and Ryan Rickelton are also included to bolster the batting strength.
Kyle Verreynne has been named as the wicket-keeper, providing reliability behind the stumps. All-rounder Wiaan Mulder will add depth to both the batting and bowling departments.
The bowling attack will be predominantly pace-focused, featuring the experienced trio of Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, and Wiaan Mulder. Keshav Maharaj will serve as the sole spinner in the XI, providing a crucial spin option on what is expected to be a pace-friendly pitch.

South Africa’s head coach expressed confidence in Tristan Stubbs’ ability to handle the new ball and praised his imposing presence. “Technique is obviously a big factor because you’re going to be facing the new ball the bulk of the time. And he’s quite an imposing character, a big, strong, strapping boy, and I quite like that. I like the fact that at the top of the order, there are quite imposing guys; guys that have got a good aura about them and strong body language,” the coach remarked.
