It seems Joe Root can do nothing wrong in the ongoing Sri Lanka vs England Test series. The England skipper is scoring runs with the bat and picking wickets with the ball and what’s more when he is asking Sri Lankan batsmen to throw their wickets, they are obliging him! In Sri Lanka’s second innings, Root sledged Sri Lankan skipper Dinesh Chandimal by asking him to throw his wicket and Chandimal got out the next ball trying to play an aggressive stroke.

Sri Lanka got off to a horrendous start in their second innings. The hosts were tottering at 37 runs for 3 wickets when Chandimal arrived at the crease and soon it became 4 down for 37 runs. With the pitch getting tougher and tougher to bat and England pushing for aggression, Chandimal decided to counter-attack and gather some quick runs.
The right-hand batsman smashed Jack Leach for two fours in the first five balls of the 16th over. After Chandimal hit the second four of the over, Root, standing in the slip cordon sledged the Sri Lankan captain and asked him to throw his wicket.
Chandimal was in an aggressive mood and decided to go for another big shot on the last ball. He went for a wild slog but could only top-edge it and J Anderson held on to a brilliant catch at mid-on.
