The biggest breaking news development coming from the Indian team is that their premier middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer has been ruled out for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Australia at home. India recently defeated the visiting Australian team 2-1 in the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 four-match Test series at home. The Indian team also managed to win both of their last two ODI series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand at home earlier this year.

It has been confirmed that Shreyas Iyer will not be available for selection in the upcoming ODI matches against Australia at home starting with the opening ODI encounter set to take place on 17 March, 2023 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Iyer did not came out to bat in the recently concluded fourth and final Test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023 due to lower back issue. Incidentally, reports also suggest that Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain will have to miss some part of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023). Shreyas Iyer was not available due to the same back issue during the last ODI series against New Zealand at home.
India is very much likely to include Suryakumar Yadav in the playing 11 for the first ODI match against Australia on Friday. In 20 ODI matches, Suryakumar has scored a total of 433 runs at an average of close to 30 that includes a couple of half-centuries.
