Shreyas Iyer Injury Update

Shreyas Iyer Injury Update: Team India went on to demolish the visiting Australian side, who are also the No.1 team in the ICC World Test Championship points table, by an innings and 132 runs in the opening Test match in Nagpur inside three days. The hosts have taken a 1-0 lead in the Border Gavaskar Trophy four-match Test series. The second Test match between India and Australia will be taking place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi from 17 February, 2023.

Shreyas Iyer Injury Update: Is Shreyas Iyer Playing IND vs AUS 2nd Test?

India’s premier middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer missed the opening Test match against Australia and also the home series against New Zealand due to a back injury. Incidentally, he travelled with the Test squad to Nagpur but then came back to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru for his further recovery. However, the latest reports suggest that Iyer is very much a doubtful starter for the second Test match against Australia as well which will be starting from Friday. He has travelled with the rest of the Indian Test team to Delhi but he is unlikely to be available for selection.

In his short Test career, Iyer has scored a total of 624 runs from as many as 7 Test matches at an average of over 56 that includes five half-centuries and one hundred. During the first Test against Australia, Suryakumar Yadav made his Test debut but was able to score just 8 runs in the first innings. However, with Iyer still unavailable, Suryakumar will most likely retain his place in the Test side for the second Test.
