Shocking Statement from Inzamam on Indian Batsmen

Former Pakistan cricket captain Inzamam ul-Haq made a shocking statement during the chat show with Ramiz Raja on YouTube, saying that Indian Batsmen used to score hundreds for personal milestones, while Pakistani players put the team first during his playing days.
The 50-year-old did acknowledge that the Indian batting order was always strong on paper, but Pakistani Batsmen made a more telling contribution.
“When we played against India, their batting was more powerful than us on paper. But even our batsmen scored 30 or 40 runs, it was for the team, but for India, even if they scored 100 runs, they played for themselves. So, that was the difference between the two sides,” Inzamam was quoted as saying.
It’s a huge statement from Inzamam and a lot of his friends in Indian cricket fraternity won’t take his words lightly. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and Saurav Ganguly were at their prime in the 90s. But what can’t be ignored is that Pakistan enjoyed an utter dominance over Indian cricket team in the 90s, before the Men in Blue turned the corner around in the last decade or so.
Pakistan’s better head-to-head record:
Despite India not dropping too many games against Pakistan in recent memories, the latter still boast a better head-to-head record. Take a look:
Total matches in ODIs: 131
India Wins: 54
Pakistan Wins: 73
No Result: 04
Inzamam praising Imran Khan!
Inzamam also praised the leadership qualities of his former captain Imran Khan who played a key role in shaping his career. Pakistan won the 1992 World Cup under Imran, their one and only title win in ICC’s flagship quadrennial tournament.
“Imran bhai wasn’t a very technical captain, but he used to back the players to the hilt. If he thought that some player was good, he used to back him tremendously. He wouldn’t drop him after one bad series,” Inzama said.
“That is the reason everyone in the side used to respect him, and continues to respect him even today,” the former Pakistan captain added.
