Shoaib Akhtar interacted with his fans in a question & answer session on Twitter on Sunday and answered many questions for them. One of the highlights was his take on who is the best test match captain at the moment.
Shoaib Akhtar rates Kane Williamson ahead of Virat Kohli
Shoiab Akhtar was clear and straightforward in his answer to a question posed by a fan. One fan had asked who is the best current test match captain. The fan who seems to be Pakistani gave Shoiab Akhtar 3 options to pick from. The England captain Joe Root, Indian team superstar batsman and captain Virat Kohli and finally New Zealand’s dynamic one down player Kane Williamson.

Shoiab Akhtar was quick to pick New Zealand’s Kane Williamson as the best among the 3. It’s hard to argue with that answer as Kane Williamson has been in superb form with the bat recently hammering centuries and double centuries at will all this while captaining the team brilliantly. His astute cricket mind has made New Zealand cricket team an unbeatable force at their home. Also for the first time in their history, Kane Williamson has taken his nation to the top of the ICC test match rankings by beating Pakistan in their latest series.
Shoaib answers lots of other questions too
Although Shoiab Akhtar’s answer to the current best captain irked some Indian fans, there were other answers that made Indian fans even more angry. When asked who is better among Rohit Sharma and David Warner, the former Pakistani fast bowler picked David Warner. This did not go down well with the fans.
The only respite for the fans from India was when he felt India would probably win the third test in the ongoing Border Gavaskar trophy. Shoiab Akhtar said it was “tough to say” but he felt India might edge the contest. Rohit Sharma and David Warner both are back in action for the third test and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
Tough to say. But India probably.
