Shardul Thakur replaces Jasprit Bumrah in India’s ODI squad

Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out of the T20I series against England due to a thumb injury.
Now after missing the T20I series, India fast bowler has been ruled out of the 3-match One Day International series against the hosts.
The Board for Cricket Control in India announced Shardul Thakur as his replacement in the 16-man squad for the ODI series, slated to kick start from July 12.
“The All-India Senior Selection Committee has named Shardul Thakur as Bumrah’s replacement in India’s ODI squad,” the BCCI statement said.
“Jasprit Bumrah had to undergo a surgery on Wednesday, July 4 in Leeds before returning home.”
“His surgery was successful and now he will start rehabilitation under the supervision of BCCI Medical Team,” it added.
Bumrah suffered an injury in his non-bowling thumb during India’s first T20I against Ireland in Dublin and was ruled out of the 3 match T20 series against England.
Deepak Chahar replaced Bumrah in the India T20 squad.

Jasprit Bumrah is currently the number 1 bowler in ODIs and his absence would be felt in the Indian squad.
India will miss Bumrah’s ability to bowl efficiently in the death overs as he tops the list of highest wicket-taker in death overs in ODIs.
Shardul, on the other hand, has taken 5 scalps in 3 ODIs he has played.
Shardul Thakur exhibited his master-class in Chennai Super Kings’ victorious campaign this season, where he took 16 wickets in 13 matches.
India would be playing three ODIs against England-
On July 12 India would play in Nottingham, On July 14 they would play in London and on July 17 they would play in Leeds.
