Thakur has a storied history with CSK, having contributed significantly to their two IPL triumphs in 2018 and 2021, where he emerged as the leading wicket-taker for the Chennai-based franchise. However, his subsequent stints with Delhi Capitals in 2022 and KKR in 2023 didn’t meet the expectations of either team.
