MS Dhoni’s potential is unmatched when it comes to finishing games. In the same manner, Sri Lanka’s evergreen Lasith Malinga is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to bowling in the death overs.
When these to titans collide on a cricket field, the rating always booms up. Flashing light on this debate, former Blackcaps and Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Scott Styris has cast his vote in favor of MS Dhoni.
Scott Styris has his say
Here’s what Styris had to say;
“I’ve got four points. It’s about consistency, CSK have never missed the final series, have won the most knockout matches, it’s the expectation and reliance on these IPL teams to produce Indian players and CSK have produced the most uncapped players for India and it’s a real desire that they have to continue to develop players in that regard,” said Styris speaking on Star Sports’ show ‘Cricket Connected’
“It’s about the best finisher in the game against the best finisher bowler. Dhoni vs Malinga and Dhoni owns Malinga,”
If we talk about the numbers between these two giants in the IPL, MS Dhoni has faced 70 balls from the speedster and has managed 107 runs at a strike-rate of 152.86. In the process, Malinga has only managed to get Dhoni out thrice.
Chennai vs Mumbai is the ‘El Classico’ of IPL
It is to be noted that Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are two of the most successful teams in the IPL history. Chennai has clinched the title thrice and have managed to make it to the last four in every edition they have played.
Meanwhile, when it comes to the IPL titles, the Mumbai Indians have held the trophy 4 times and heading into the 2020 edition, they are the reigning champions.
Talking about the head to head battle between these two sides, CSK has managed 12 wins, whereas, MI has had the better of their opponents with 18 wins to their name from 30 matches.
