SCO vs SIX: Defending champions Sydney Sixers will be once again taking on the Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League T20 2021-22 season finals on 28 January, 2022 at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne. Incidentally, both these teams also faced each other in the grand finale during the previous edition of the T20 tournament where the Sydney Sixers won the game and eventually lifted the coveted BBL trophy. However, ahead of the penultimate final encounter, the Sydney Sixers are currently struggling with some casualties as many of their crucial players are out of contention after testing positive for Covid-19.
SCO vs SIX: AB de Villiers to PLAY Big Bash League Final?
Just before their Challenger game against Adelaide Strikers, Sydney Sixers premier wicket-keeper batsman Josh Philippe tested positive for Covid-19 which forced the assistant coach Jay Lenton being part of the playing 11. Therefore, after their four-wicket victory in the last match, Sydney Sixers veteran all-rounder Daniel Christian took to Twitter and demanded cricketers from all over the world who are not infected with COVID-19 to join his team. In a hilarious move, Christian has also offered free beer afterwards as a reward but he even mentioned that this offer is not for test cricketers.
Former South African batsman AB de Villiers quickly came up with a reply and stated that he is very much eager for this opportunity only if he is guaranteed his “4 overs”.
“Shout out to anyone* in Melbourne that wants a game of cricket tomorrow night. My team is struggling to get 11 covid free, fit players on the park. Warm up starts at 6.30pm at Marvel Stadium. Free beer afterwards, potentially out of a large cup. DM if keen. *no test cricketers” wrote Daniel Christian on Twitter.
“I’m keen if u can guarantee me my 4 overs?” replied AB de Villiers.

One of the fan accounts of Melbourne Stars explosive batsman Glenn Maxwell also came up with a funny reply where he mentioned that “AB de Villiers is easily the best bowler he has ever seen” while posting a video where the Proteas cricketer can actually be seen bowling in a Test match against West Indies.

Big Bash League T20 2021-22
The ongoing edition of the Big Bash League T20 has already witnessed a number of fallouts due to Covid-19, however, Cricket Australia (CA) have still managed to carry on with the entertaining spectacle. However, it will be a tough job for the Sydney Sixers to field a strong playing 11 in the finals due to the unavailability of their main-stream cricketers.
