When a opposition player praises a batsman, then it only shows what that player has done in his career. Apart from being the arch rivals to Indians, one of the massive names in the Pakistan cricket history in Sarfaraz Ahmed was in all praise for the Indian captain and the best batsman across formats in Virat Kohli.
The sheer amount of runs that Virat Kohli has scored in the last decade or so is something that excites any cricket fan. He just made the run scoring so easy and made his peers to feel embarrassed with the way he was batting. Although the batsman had a quiet 3-4 months in the international cricket by his standards its only a matter of time that the champion batsman finds his mojo back.
Sarfaraz has no doubt regarding who is the best batsman!
The ICC rankings are there for a reason and the Indian captain has been the undisputed king at the top of the ICC rankings for about 3 years now. The only batsman who can dethrone Virat Kohli from that position is the Indian vice captain in Rohit Sharma. India are blessed to have two of the greatest white ball players playing together at the same era.
In a recent interview, the former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed told,
In today’s time, there should be no doubt, it is Virat Kohli who’s the world’s number 1 batsman. But, as I have told you before that when I have been behind the wicket, I have felt that although Rohit Sharma does not have that many runs in Test matches, the timing that he has is great. But the number one player in the world is definitely Virat Kohli. Nobody can match him
Can Virat regain the #1 ranking in the toughest format ?
There is no doubt that the Indian captain does not have a clear rival batsman from other countries in the white ball cricket but when it comes to the toughest format of the game, the former Australian captain in Steve Smith has been a step above his contemporaries. The Indian captain would be itching to take the field to prove himself as the superior batsman in tests as well.
