Sachin Tendulkar’s suggestion to Roston Chase

The second Test between India and Windies is a special moment for Windies batsman Roston Chase as he scored his maiden away hundred in Tests. The Windies batsman displayed immense character and discipline to grind India’s high-quality bowling attack. This performance garnered plenty of appreciation to him and the master blaster Sachin Tendulkar too congratulated Chase and in fact, Tendulkar even offered an advice to the Windies batsman.

Tendulkar full of praise for Chase

The master blaster Sachin Tendulkar posted a tweet soon after Chase completed a spectacular century on the second day of the Second Test.

The highest run scorer in Test cricket wrote, ‘wonderful innings by #RostonChase. He’s got potential and should bat at no 5. Congratulations to @y_umesh for a fine bowling performance. True workhorse of the Indian bowling attack.’

Sachin’s advice to the right-hand batsman

At the same time, Sachin offered an advice to the Windies batsman. The Indian cricketer observed that Chase has the potential to bat up in the Windies batting order. Currently, the right-hand batsman plays at number six which according to Sachin is a lower number for him.

Everyone’s talking about Chase’s batting position 

Sachin is not the first one to comment on Chase’s batting position. A lot of cricket analysts and former players have spoken about this issue and have asked the Windies team management to push the right-hand batsman up in the batting order.

However, Windies coach Stuart Law has said that the number six is the ideal position for Chase as he also has a bigger role to play with the ball. According to the Windies coach, batting at number six allows Chase to stay fresh and be effective with his spin bowling.

He added that batting up will add more pressure on the right-hand batsman and hence number six is ideal for him.
