Among his many accolades is his record of hundreds and the only player to score 100 centuries in international cricket. Out of those 100 centuries, Sachin Tendulkar managed to score 51 in the red-ball format as he accomplished many feats.
It took exactly 200 Test matches for Sachin to score 15,921 runs and also holds the record for most double hundreds for India. Including his only double ton in the ODI format Sachin has 7 double hundreds (six in Test matches).
Sachin’s first taste of hundred in the five-day format came in August 1990 in Manchester. Sachin scored an unbeaten 119 runs against a bowling attack of Devon Malcolm and Chris Lewis. Interestingly Sachin shared dressing room with Kapil Dev in that match and batted at No.6.
Sachin’s first double hundred came in October 1999 in Ahmedabad against New Zealand. Interestingly despite scoring 51 hundreds, the legendary player never scored a triple hundred for India.
Sachin’s last Test hundred came in January 2011 against South Africa. He made his highest score in 2004, when he made 248 not out against Bangladesh at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. Sachin’s centuries have come in 30 different cricket grounds, with 27 of them being scored in venues outside India.
In his illustrious career, Australia was Sachin’s favourite opposition against whom he scored 11 Test hundreds. This is the second most number of hundreds scored by an individual player against Australia after Sir Jack Hobbs of England with 12.
Moreover Sachin could have added nine more hundreds to his name in the Test format, only to get dismissed in the nervous nineties. Apart from Zimbabwe, Sachin has scored tons in all Test playing nations of his generation.
