South Africa ODI Squad: In a massive recent development, hosts South Africa have announced a 17-member squad for the upcoming three-match home ODI series against India. South Africa is scheduled to lock horns with India in as many as three ODI matches scheduled on 19, 21 and 23 January, 2022 respectively. The first two ODI matches will be played in Paarl while the final ODI game is scheduled to be held in Cape Town.

South Africa have handed a maiden ODI call-up to all-rounder Marco Jansen after his excellent performances in the domestic circuit across formats. However, the big news is that Proteas premier fast bowler Anrich Nortje has not yet recovered from his hip injury and will miss the three-match ODI series against India as well. The duo of Wayne Parnell and Zubayr Hamza have retained their spots in the national spots as they were also part of the home series against Netherlands. Temba Bavuma will captain the South Africa ODI team while left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj will be his deputy.

“This is a very exciting group and the Selection Panel and I are eager to see what they will produce,” CSA Convenor of Selectors, Victor Mpitsang said.
“For many of our players, it does not get bigger than playing against this powerhouse Indian team and this will be the biggest series of their young lives so far. We are looking forward to seeing what they bring to the table and wish Temba (Bavuma) and Mark (Boucher) all the best for the series,” he added.

India vs South Africa
In the ongoing three-match Test between these two teams, Team India took a 1-0 lead with an impressive 113-run win in the opening Test match against South Africa at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. For India, opening batter and vice-captain KL Rahul scored a fabulous knock of 123 runs in the first innings in some really challenging conditions to bat that eventually proved to be the different between the two sides as he was also named the Player of the Match. India’s pace bowling duo of Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah picked up 8 and 5 wickets respectively in the entire Test match.

The second Test match between South Africa and India is scheduled to begin from 3 January, 2022 at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
