Rohit Sharma injured SA vs IND 2021: In a massive update, India’s newly appointed full-time white-ball captain Rohit Sharma has been ruled out of the entire three-match Test series against South Africa. The Indian team is scheduled to play 3 Tests and 3 ODIs in South Africa starting with the 1st Test match from 26 December in Centurion. Incidentally, Rohit was also named as the vice-captain for the three-match Test series in South Africa, however, there is no development yet on who will be the new vice-captain.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released an official statement that Rohit Sharma sustained a left hamstring injury while training in the net session on Sunday. Incidentally, Rohit complained of discomfort to the support staff during the practice session itself and the post some tests, the serious nature of the injury has come into the picture. 31-year-old Priyank Panchal has been added to the India Test squad as a replacement. The right-handed Gujrat opener captained the India A team recently in the unofficial Test series in South Africa.

SA vs IND 2021
The Indian team led by skipper Virat Kohli will undergo a three-day quarantine in a five star hotel near the Mumbai International Airport starting from 12 December (Sunday) before leaving for South Africa. Team India is supposed to leave for Johannesburg on 16 December (Wednesday) by a charter flight. The first Test match between India and South Africa is scheduled to be played in Centurion while the second and third Test matches will take place in Johannesburg and Cape Town respectively.

If the recent media reports are to be believed, the upcoming three-match Test series against South Africa will be a final opportunity for the out-of-form Indian duo of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. Both the senior Indian batters have to score big runs in order to retain their places in the Test team and they also have good experience of playing the longest format of the game in the challenging South African conditions.
