SA vs ENG: The series between South Africa and England moves to match two, also being played at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein. In the first game, the Proteas made a respectable 298 after choosing to bat first, with van der Dussen producing an outstanding century. England responded by gliding to an opening partnership of 146. But owing to some unrelenting quick bowling and solid captaincy by Bavuma, they suffered a batting collapse and lost by 27 runs.
Why is Jofra Archer Not Playing Today
The biggest news from the England camp is that Jofra Archer is not playing in today’s match. Archer was a tad expensive in the first game, giving away 81 runs and picking just a solitary wicket. However, Buttler mentioned, “Just rotation, a quick turnaround and a spike in going up to 50 overs”. Archer is returning to the side after 2021 and perhaps they don’t want to rush him into the side. Reece Topley comes in for him while Chris Woakes would replace David Willey.
South Africa have opted to bowl first having won the toss. They have also made three changes. This is what Jos Buttler had to say at the toss,
“Looks like a good surface, so happy to make the first use of that. We would like to play in a certain way, we’re committed to that, looking forward to the game against a tough opposition. We have two changes – Jofra Archer and David Willey miss out, Chris Woakes and Reece Topley are back.”
