In a crucial news update, the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have dropped premier overseas batsman Harry Brook for their 10th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) taking place at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The Sunrisers Hyderabad will definitely be feeling very much low on confidence as they are coming into this game on the back of a disappointing 5-run loss at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders and SRH are currently languishing at the bottom of the points table in IPL 2023 with just 3 wins and 6 defeats.

RR vs SRH: Why is Harry Brook Not Playing Today’s Match IPL?

After having lost the toss and being asked to bowl first, the Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram stated that Harry Brook is not part of the SRH playing XI for today’s RR vs SRH match. However, the England batsman is part of the five substitute members but the Sunrisers Hyderabad cannot use him as an Impact Player because they are already playing four overseas players, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, Glenn Phillips and Marco Jansen. Barring a fabulous century against Kolkata Knight Riders, it has been a horrible IPL 2023 campaign for Brook who has scored just 163 runs from 9 games at a poor strike-rate of less than 125 that also includes ducks in the last two games. SRH have brought back New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips in place of Harry for this match against Rajasthan Royals.

“Would’ve also batted first. It’s a used wicket. There’s been some close ones. Most of the time we’ve played decent cricket but not been able to get over the line. Couple of changes – Phillips comes in for Brook. Vivrant Sharma makes his debut,” said Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Aiden Markram during the toss.
