After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul revealed that unfortunately Quinton de Kock is not part of the LSG playing 11 in today’s RR vs LSG IPL 2023 match. Rahul further mentioned that it is very much difficult to accommodate the South African senior opener in the side as only four overseas players can start in the XI. However, the biggest reason for Quinton sitting on the bench has been the explosive performance of Kyle Mayers especially in the first two games where he smashed back-to-back half-centuries at an amazing strike-rate. Mayers has an incredible strike-rate of 168 from 5 matches in the ongoing IPL 2023 season.

“We would have bowled first as well. First game here. It’s important that we start well and put a good total on the board. We’ve executed well in most games. We have had clarity with bat on ball. All three skills have been good. We are quite settled. We’ll try to keep that left-hand, right-hand combination going. Quinny still misses out. He’ll just have to wait for some more time. I have enjoyed opening with Quinton,” said Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul during the toss.
