Shimron Hetmyer RR vs DC IPL 2022: In an important news development, Rajasthan Royals (RR) in-form batsman Shimron Hetmyer is not playing the today Indian Premier League (IPL 2022) match against Delhi Capitals at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. It has been an excellent IPL 2022 campaign for the Rajasthan Royals who won the first-ever edition of the tournament in 2008. The Rajasthan Royals are currently slotted at the third spot in the team standings with as many as 7 wins from a total of 11 matches so far this T20 season.

After losing the toss, Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson informed that Shimron Hetmyer was not available for selection in the today IPL match against Delhi Capitals. Post the previous win against Punjab Kings, Hetmyer left the team bio-bubble and travelled back to Guyana for the birth of his first child. It is still not clear as to when he will rejoin the Rajasthan Royals camp and will have to undergo a mandatory quarantine of three days. His absence will be a big loss for the Sanju Samson-led side as the West Indian cricketer was finishing matches amazingly well this T20 season.

“We dont mind (batting first), would love to put up a good score here. We have one change. Rassie comes in place of Hetty (Hetmyer). We have been playing some good cricket and we would like to continue with that. Looks like a good surface, might be a bit sticky to start with but we are okay with it,” said Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson at the toss.

“Shimron Hetmyer has travelled back to Guyana early morning today for the imminent birth of his first child, but he’ll be back soon,” said an official statement from Rajasthan Royals.
