Things have not worked out really well for the Rajasthan Royals in the ongoing T20 tournament as they have suffered back-to-back poor losses at the hands of Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last two games.

After having won the toss and opting to bat first, the Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson revealed that their premier left-arm pacer Trent Boult is not part of the RR playing 11 in this RR vs CSK match on Thursday. Sanju further mentioned that the senior New Zealand pace bowler is struggling with a niggle and was not available for selection in this game against Chennai Super Kings. During the last game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, Boult ended up taking two crucial wickets which included the prized scalp of Virat Kohli. The left-arm swing bowler has performed really well in IPL 2023 so far having taken as many as 9 wickets 6 matches at a fine economy rate of less than 8.

“We would like to bat first. We like to stick to our strength, which is to defend. It feels really great to play RR’s 200th game, feels great to be playing for 10 years. Would love to see some pink here today, but it’s yellow and we know that the reason is. Boult misses out due to a niggle, Zampa is playing in his place,” said Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson during the toss.

Due to his impressive performance, he was retained by the Rajasthan Royals for IPL 2023.
