Rohit Sharma 264 is the highest individual score in ODI. The day 13 November 2014 will go down as the one of the monumental days in the history of ODI cricket if not in the entire cricket. India’s Rohit Sharma wrote a remarkable tale of history with a mammoth 264-run innings in the ODI encounter against Sri Lanka. A record which will by many contrast looks unbreakable.

Rohit was part of an experimental group after the retirement of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag who had left the openers slot vacant. Having succeeded at this position in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy, the versatile Mumbai player had made this his own position and would go on to score a double ton in November 2013.
A year later, Rohit would rewrite history on multiple terms, not even Rohit himself would have thought about what was gonna happen that day on 13th November 2014. Came out to bat alongside fellow Mumbaikar Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit made a slow start to his innings after India had won the toss and opted to bat.
In a remarkable show in next three hours, the crowd at Eden Gardens and millions around on the television sets witnessed history. Rohit Sharma went onto score a historic score of 264 runs before he bowed out on the final delivery of the innings.

To date, it is considered by many as the greatest innings in the history of ODI cricket. Rohit’s power hitting received a standing ovation at the Eden Gardens as records were broken left, right and center.
Rohit, after that innings went on to add another double ton to his impressive cap, but his ton against Sri Lanka is hardly matched by anyone in the modern day. Martin Guptill managed to score 237 unbeaten in a 2015 World Cup game, but even he stated that only a great concentration, passion, and mentality could break that kind of record.
The historic double ton has forged Rohit’s legacy as one of the greatest limited-overs cricketer of all-time.
