PhoThe 13th edition of the Indian Premier League has reached the halfway stage and it is only fair to say that the tournament has been riddled with injuries. The latest addition to this injury list is the superstar of Delhi Capitals – Rishabh Pant
Rishabh Pant misses out against MI
The wicket keeper batsman Rishabh Pant was injured in the game against the Rajasthan Royals. He was seen hobbling while taking the catch of Kagiso Rabada’s bowling. The injury is still unclear whether it is a leg injury or a hamstring one as some of the other reports suggests. Subsequent to the Rajasthan Royals match, Delhi Capitals took on the Mumbai Indians in what was a top of the table clash in the IPL.
The swashbuckling southpaw had to miss out on yesterday’s game owing to his injury and Alex Carey had to take on the wicket keeper and finishing duties. Delhi capitals dearly missed the services of Rishabh Pant as they put on a below par score in the first innings due to lack of firepower to take on the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult at the death.
Rishabh Pant will be out for a week : Shreyas Iyer
The Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer on Sunday confirmed that the star player will be out for a week and he doesn’t have more clear updates to share. While speaking in the post match presentation, Shreyas Iyer said –“ We have no idea, I spoke to the doctor. He said he has to rest for a week. Hope he comes back really strong”.
This means that Rishabh Pant is expected not to feature in Wednesday’s clash against Rajasthan Royals against whom he sustained his injury and the weekend’s clash against the struggling Chennai Super Kings. The game against Chennai Super Kings is scheduled to take place in Sharjah where the likes of Rishabh Pant would have been eager to bat considering the short boundaries and lack of genuine death bowler for CSK. Unfortunately now, Rishabh Pant and his fans have to hope he returns to his side to take on Kings XI Punjab.
