One of the highlights of India’s thumping win over West Indies in the first Test was Kuldeep Yadav’s five-wicket haul in the second innings.
The wristspinner who looked tamed in the only Test he played in England delivered an impressive performance to claim his maiden five wicket haul in Tests. But how did this turnaround happen? Kuldeep revealed how he improved his bowling while speaking with the media after the Test match.
Bowled a lot with red- ball: Kuldeep
The Indian spinner said that he went to his coach after returning from England, and bowled a lot with the red ball for 3-4 days.
He admitted that it was difficult for him since after playing with the white ball, you tend to lose the rhythm for red-ball cricket. Kuldeep revealed that he was with his coach for 4-5 days and concentrated a lot on bowling around the wicket as well as over the wicket.
He noted that they worked on his release, and also on the pace as according to Kuldeep in one-day cricket your pace increases. But when you play Test cricket, you have to ‘air’ the ball hoping that the batsman would take his chance.
Coming back to Tests is challenging: Kuldeep
The wristspinner explained that coming back to the red ball from the white ball is very difficult and also challenging. He stated that it takes time to get used to it as the white ball is a bit hard and is easier to grip. But the red ball, after a few overs, it gets softer, so it takes time to adjust.
