The corona virus pandemic refuses to bow down as it is giving all sorts of headache to the people all over the world and the cricket is one sport which is getting affected massively and the BCCI officials are working out to conduct big revenue tournament in the Indian premier league at any cost as the amount of revenue it generates is immense and can inflict a huge loss if its not conducted this year.
India is our first preference!
The BCCI has been considering all possible situations to conduct IPL even if there is no possibility to conduct the cash rich league in India.
The BCCI treasurer in Arun Dhumal said that there is a possibility to move the IPL out of India but that is only their last possible option
If it is safe for our players to play IPL in India, then it would be our first preference but in case the situation does not permit and we are not left with any choice and a window is available then we can look at moving IPL 2020 out of India
We have done it in the past in South Africa. We may not want to do it willingly but if that’s the only possibility then there is not much anyone can do about it
No country is safe!
The virus has caused damage all over the world and nowhere in the world has been spared which means that no country is a safe environment to play cricket. Arun Dhumal further added
No country is safe from the Covid-19 pandemic so it’s not going to be easy if we decided to shift IPL out of the country and take players to Sri Lanka, Dubai or South Africa. The situation is almost the same everywhere, international travel restrictions are also a problem. Srilanka was okay but in the last couple of days cases have risen there so problem are there, we need to deal with them
