Ready for Australia’s challenge: Rohit

Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma has admitted that the Australia series will be challenging but he also made it clear that Indian batsmen are prepared for the challenge.

The Indian batsman was speaking with the media ahead of the first T2oI which will be played on November 21. He noted that India has always played either at Perth or Brisbane but this time around they are playing at Perth and not Brisbane. He also pointed out that last time the Indian team played at Brisbane but not Perth.

The right-hand batsman explained that those two conditions are obviously very challenging and he also mentioned that Australia have tall bowlers who extract bounce and use it to their advantage. Rohit stated that Indian batsmen generally are not that tall and hence it is not that easy for them.

But at the same time, he made it clear that all the guys are determined to change things around this time and they are ready to accept the challenge.

Winning in Australia is a good feeling: Rohit

The Indian cricketer observed that Australia is one place where the Indian team wants to leave their mark on and do well as a unit.

He admitted that the last time they came here, there were a few close games. So now they want to make it count this time around. He noted that there is real good feeling in the group across all three formats and the motive of the team is to try and seize all the moments and try and win.

He feels that when you do well in places like Australia you feel good as a team and thinking about the World Cup ahead, it can only give you confidence winning in places like Australia.

Red-ball cricket is the challenge: Sharma

He further explained that the good bounce allows him to play his game because he has grown up playing on cement pitches back home.

Rohit admitted that he has done well in limited overs, but feels that the challenge obviously is red-ball cricket, which right now he is not thinking of, as he just wants to do well in the T20 format and take it from there.
