Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Chennai Super Kings, Virat Kohli vs MS Dhoni, the match between two of the biggest Indian cricket stalwarts is done and dusted, and it is Dhoni’s CSK who have thumped RCB in one of the most thrilling encounters of IPL 2023. The Super Kings defeated the Royal Challengers by 8 runs to climb up to the third position on the points table.

Chennai Super Kings were put to bat by Faf du Plessis after he won the toss. M Chidambaram Stadium is a high scoring surface and chasing is always better than putting runs on the board. Faf’s decision however didn’t paid dividends as the visitors posted a massive 226 for the loss of 6 wickets courtesy of swashbuckling fifties from Devon Conway and Shivam Dube.

It was a mountain to climb for the hosts, but despite losing their star batter Virat Kohli on the fourth ball of the innings, Glenn Maxwell and skipper Faf du Plessis stitched a brilliant 126 runs stand off 61 deliveries. However, once the two batters were dismissed, it seemed like floodgates were opened for CSK and they survived a last over scare to defeat RCB by 8 runs. Devon Conway’s 83 off 45 deliveries helped him earn the Man of the Match award.

As mentioned above, it was the duo of Devon Conway and Shivam Dube which helped CSK post a mammoth 226 for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. The duo put on a brilliant 80 runs stand for the third wicket and set the tone for a mammoth score. For RCB, Glenn Maxwell and skipper Faf du Plessis were the only warriors with the bat and almost took the game away from MS Dhoni & Co. An inexperienced bowling lineup of CSK was put to test on a tricky M Chinnaswamy wicket which has always been a bowler’s nightmare, but the young CSK bowlers held their nerves and finished off on the winning side.
