QUE vs PES: In a big breaking news, Peshawar Zalmi overseas batsman Hazratullah Zazai has tested positive for Covid-19 and will not be available for the second game of the Pakistan Super League T20 2022 against the Quetta Gladiators scheduled to take place on 28 January (Friday) at the National Stadium in Karachi. The ongoing edition of the PSL 2022 has already seen a number of casualties as many players from multiple teams have contracted the virus.

In another big blow, Afghanistan batsman Hazratullah Zazai is currently undergoing his mandatory 7 days of quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19 and thus, he will now miss the opening stage of Pakistan Super League 2022. Ahead of their opening game against Quetta Gladiators, the Peshawar Zalmi are already struggling as they are unable to field their first-choice playing 11 due to the absence of some key players namely Wahab Riaz, Haider Ali, Kamran Akmal and Arshad Iqbal who also tested positive for Covid. In the absence of Wahab, Shoaib Malik will captain the Peshawar Zalmi team while the duo of Imam-ul-Haq and Hamad Butt have been drafted into the squad as replacement players.

PSL 2022: Shahid Afridi COVID Positive
On the other hand, the Quetta Gladiators will also miss the services of their senior all-rounder Shahid Afridi atleast for the first few matches of this year’s Pakistan Super League after the veteran cricketer tested positive for COVID-19. Afridi took to Twitter revealing that he has contracted the virus, but is showing no symptoms at all and will surely return to play his last edition of the PSL post completing his seven days of isolation.

In the PSL 2022 tournament opener, the Multan Sultans registered a comprehensive 7-wicket victory over Karachi Kings at the National Stadium in Karachi. For the Multan Sultans, leg-spinner Imran Tahir bowled remarkably well finishing with three crucial wickets while skipper Mohammad Rizwan also smashed a fine unbeaten knock of 52 runs off 47 balls.
