PSL 2023 season will kick start in February 2023 as top talent across the world will gather to entertain the fans. Unlike the previous season the latest season of PSL will have four venues and will move to its traditional start date in February. The season will start on February 9 and will end with the final on March 19.
While the PSL will have plenty of competitions this time around with the emergence of UAE T20 League and South Africa T20 League. Six teams will compete outright for the title in 39 days as top talents like Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Tim David will be some of the big names glittering the stage.
Last year the PSL season was revamped to facilitate the Australia tour of Pakistan as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wanted fair share of rest for players. With the Indian Premier League (IPL) season also likely to start in March, the PCB has made sure there is no intersection of date to avoid unavailability of international stars.
PSL Schedule for 2023 to be announced soon
While the dates for the auctions for the latest season remain unrevealed teams will be eager to make their mark. Lahore Qalandars are the defending champions after they beat then defending champions Multan Sultans in the final.
The big names will include inaugural champions Islamabad United, who are the only team to have won multiple PSL titles. Interestingly, this will be the first time all the six teams will enter the PSL season with at least one title to their name.
Peshawar Zalmi who have made it to the playoffs in all the seven seasons of the PSL will be looking to add their first title since 2017. No other team has played in more finals (4) than the Peshawar-based side and will be eager to add another trophy to the cabinet.
Quetta Gladiators have recently failed to reach previous heights that saw them clinch the PSL title in 2019. They have finished either rock-bottom or second from bottom in the last three seasons.
Finally Karachi Kings who endured one of the worse runs in the history of the PSL last season by losing eight consecutive matches, will look to put their disappointment behind them. They won the title in 2020, but last season saw them win only one match and have big questions to answer in the PSL 2023 season.
