Reports claim that Kings XI Punjab co-owner Preity Zinta and chief mentor Virender Sehwag were involved in a verbal spat on Tuesday after the team lost to Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League.
Sehwag was questioned about his decisions by the actor after Punjab failed to chase 159 runs set by the Rajasthan Royals.
Those privy to the spat said that Zinta went up to Sehwag after the match got over and questioned him about the tactics used during the innings.
“Skipper Ravichandran Ashwin was promoted up the order and was sent to bat at No.3, ahead of Karun Nair and Manoj Tiwary. But, the move backfired and Ashwin got dismissed for a duck,” he quoted.
“After that Preity launched into Sehwag for the decision. Sehwag tried to defuse the situation but Preity tried to put blame on him and said that he was tinkering with the playing XI unnecessarily,” he added.
The incident is not a small one as Kings XI mentor Sehwag might end up his five-year association with the franchise as he is not happy with the actor interfering in his job.
Sehwag played for Kings XI Punjab till 2015, and this year he played a key role during the auctions where he decided to rope in Gayle and Ashwin in the squad.
Kings XI Punjab are currently seated at the third spot with six wins in their last ten games.
