Kolkata Knight Riders the two-time IPL champions reached the finals of the last year’s IPL with a great comeback in the second-half before going down to CSK in the finals.

They retained the two fast-bowling allrounders in Andre Russell and Venkatesh Iyer and the two mystery spinners, Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy. Brendon McCullum will continue as the head coach of the side and they’ve named Shreyas Iyer as their captain this season.

Venkatesh Iyer is likely to retain the opening spot after his exploits with the bat last season with Hales likely to partner him at the top. Iyer and Rana will occupy the middle-order and S Jackson will oversee the wicket-keeping duties. Russell, Narine and Cummins will be their other overseas players who provide value with both bat and ball. The rest of the bowling attack will comprise of Mavi, Chakravarthy and Umesh Yadav.

KKR 2022 Players List with Salary

Kolkata Knight Riders were in search of a captain in this auction after their tryst with Morgan last year, so when Shreyas Iyer’s name came out they went all in buying him at a price of 12.25 crores making him their costliest buy. They also bought back their former players in Nitish Rana, Pat Cummins and Shivam Mavi at high prices. They haven’t improved much as a squad from last year and have the same flaws which pulled them down in the previous seasons.
