The 2 time world cup winning wrist spinner from Uttar Pradesh Piyush Chawla in his latest interview to cricketAddictor picked an all time IPL XI which had some veterans missing in it. The leg spinner has played all the 12 editions of the IPL and picked up 150 wickets in 157 IPL games.
No place for Chris Gayle in Chawla’s IPL XI
The talented leggie was instrumental in the KKR’s successful campaign in 2014 with 14 wickets. He was the mainstay in the spin department for KKR and Gautam Gambhir used him to perfection.
When asked to choose an all time XI, Chawla opted for Rohit Sharma and David Warner as openers leaving out one of the giants of T20 cricket in Chris Gayle. Chris Gayle has an astonishing average of 41 with an mind boggling strike rate of 151 after having played 125 games in IPL.
The top order consists of mr.IPL Suresh Raina who is one of the consistent performers in the cash rich league. The RCB duo in Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers will be looking after the middle order duties while MS Dhoni will hold the team together at #6
The team will have 2 all rounders in the form of Ravindra Jadeja and Andre Russell which stretches the batting line up till #8.
Mumbai Indians duo in Chawla’s XI
The Afghan leg spinner and the 21 year old Rashid Khan will be leading the spin attack with Ravindra Jadeja. Although the leg spinner has played just 3 seasons of IPL, he showed enough skills to earn himself a place in an all time XI.
The pace attack consists of Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga which is one of the deadliest bowling pairs in IPL history. The duo represent the Mumbai Indians franchise and have won 4 IPL trophies to date.
