Pakistan cricketer tested positive for COVID-19

The novel Corona Virus or Covid-19 pandemic is still at large in almost every country of the world. Although there has been several developments in the ways of testing and treating the affected persons, the virus still continues to spread like a forest fire among civilians.
Ex cricketer tested positive for virus
There has been over 52,000 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Pakistan. The latest news coming out from the cricketing nation is that one of the former cricketer has been tested positive for the virus. It is learned from reliable sources that the cricketer is Tafeeq Umar.
The intricate details of results of the test has not been made public yet. It is learned that Tafeeq Umar has been asked to self isolate. The ex cricketer will do so thereby quarantining himself with a minimum of 14 days at his home.
The Former Pakistani cricketer was an opening batsman by trade and has accumulated 2963 runs in his 44 test match appearances. He has also scored 504 runs in 22 ODIs some of them came during the famous 2003 cricket world cup where the opening batsman also kept wickets as a make shift wicket keeper. In his mediocre test match career Umar managed to notch up 7 centuries the first of which came in his debut match against Bangladesh in Multan. Over the course of his fairly lengthy first class career, Tafeeq Umar collected over 10,000 runs -10,598 to be precise in 177 matches at an average of 36.41.
Corona in the cricket community
Tafeeq Umar who is a high profile name is certainly not the first one in the cricketing community to be affected by the Covid-19. Tafeeq Umar is the fourth cricketer known to have contracted the disease. Earlier South African first-class cricketer Solo Nqweni also tested positive for the novel corona virus. Former Pakistan first-class cricketer Zafar Sarfaraz passed away last month after losing battle against the virus. Earlier in March this year, Scotland’s Majid Haq had also revealed that he had tested positive for the same virus.
